Red cart with bread in front of a grand mosque under clear blue sky. Palm tree and patterned benches in foreground. Peaceful atmosphere.

Muscular wax figure of a man with long dark hair, wearing a pendant necklace, dark pants, and holding a weapon, set against a dark background.

Rambo!  Look...Rambo!!!

Rambo! Rambo! Rambo! Rambo!  Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

This is what I heard.....2 hours ago.  It was a group of Turkish people.  I’m wearing a sleeveless shirt.....so I guess that’s why they called me Rambo.

I should have turned on them with my machine gun and made one of those Sylvester Stallone faces.....but I didn’t.

Coffee is being poured from a copper pot into a yellow cup amidst scattered coffee beans on a textured blue surface.

Istanbul has been good to me.  Today....the last day here....has been cool.  I got up...had a nice breakfast.  Then, I had a great quiet time w/ God at a nearby coffee shop.  Later, I went for a run along the seaside.  Quite a view that was – here’s a few highlights of the time by the seaside:

Boats on a river with a grand mosque and minarets in the background, surrounded by colorful buildings under a cloudy sky. Peaceful scene.

  • Hot air balloon floating along on the opposite shoreline

  • Hundreds of ships zipping around in the harbor

  • A little boy and his friend were playing in the water.  He tried out his English on me and yelled, ‘Hello!  Thank you very much!!’  (I didn’t really know how to respond to that....so just smiled at him).

  • A HUGE capsized ship (that appears to have capsized years ago but they seem to have left it there as a tourist attraction).

White minibus with "Selçuk-Kuşadası Ephesus" signs in blue and red, parked on a street. Bright and sunny setting.

It’s been a good day....and a good time in Istanbul.

I will be on the bus to Ephesus in 30 minutes.

Did I mention that my hotel offers belly dancing lessons?  I went to those lessons last night.  More details in the next letter.

Dancers in colorful traditional attire perform in a plaza. Turkish flags are displayed, with palm trees and buildings in the background.
