Brent's Ramblings

Meeting Bojidar for the first time was pure joy. From the moment he reached out his hand and said “Dobr Den,” our hearts were his. A soccer ball broke the ice, laughter followed, and soon we were walking, playing, and sliding together. He grabbed our hands, shared his excitement about horses, and soaked in every moment. By the end, he was in my arms—quiet, trusting, and already my son.

We arrive in Sliven, Bulgaria after a 350 km drive from Sofia, passing sunflower fields and small roadside stops. The town surprises us with mountain views and a beautiful hotel. We meet our interpreter, Galina, learn more about Bo and his foster family, and sense real excitement around this adoption.

Violetta arrives early, confident and prepared—the Bulgarian adoption coordinator now holding our hopes in her hands. Over candid conversations, we learn about her past as a lawyer, the transparent adoption process, and what lies ahead. Most importantly, we discover we’ll soon meet Bo every day, that he already knows about us, and that tomorrow, at last, we’ll meet our son for the first time.
