Meeting God on Business Trips

I meet God when I travel.

I remember key times when I felt close to God. Most of my trips (not all) have been business. I feel called to serve God in the business world.

I remember key times where I felt close to God...very connected to God when I traveled:

• A beautiful sunrise in Siberia. Some of the most beautiful and extravagant shades of orange and pink I've ever seen. 

• On a rocky beach in Crimea. Seeing the vineyards on the mountains next to the sea. Seeing the beauty of God's creation. 

  
  

• On a mountain top in Colorado, the beauty of the white snow and rocky peaks. It was right before I 'turned my life upside down' by moving to Ukraine to become a missionary. 

  
  

• Another beautiful sunrise - this time on the beach in North Carolina as I heard the waves of the ocean crashing on the shore. I felt close...I felt connected to God as I relaxed and spent time with Him.

  
  

• In the streets of a suburb of Seoul, Korea as I explored the local culture. Seeing beauty and variety in God's creation as I watched and interacted with the people there.

• Meeting a cast of characters (all reflecting God's glory in some way) as I traveled through Turkey, Greece, and Macedonia. 

  
  

• Looking out over the city from an old, Soviet-style apartment building in Kyiv. Talking with a close friend...smoking a cigar.

As I reflect on these times,....I cherish them. I've traveled less internationally in the last few years...and I miss it.

But -  I'm also reminded that God is with me as I travel right now as well...on shorter trips.

This week it was to see my Mom in the Kansas City area, and later in the week, it was Western, Nebraska.

I tend to see and feel God in the 'big' things. Trips to the other side of the world. Job and vocational changes.

But...He's there in the small things as well. A short trip to Western, Nebraska for some training with an organization that I recently started to work with...started to serve. I didn't have it all together...I didn't have all the details figured out. But....God was right there...in the details...in making things happen.

He was at work in me and through me. There was also a great time of connection and discussion about God and his Word with my colleague there.

I want to be more 'in tune' with God in the small things....the small trips...not just the big trips. I know He's at work. 

God...show me more of You not only in the big things...but the small things as well.....
